On a recent trip to Port Elizabeth, I spent some time taking photographs of the sea. The truth is I could spend hours looking at and photographing the sea.
The sea provides an ongoing symphony of movement, noise and smells and keeps all my senses alert all of the time. On this particular day I played around with timing the movement of the waves, anticipating to make sure I got some magic.
A very long exposure gives a milky, washed out effect, something often done and which I do not like. I prefer the combination of some “milkiness” without compromising the movement and power of the sea too much.
Here are some images to show the time I spent “playing with the waves”.
