Stripes galore with zebra in Africa

Zebra are fascinating. Not because they do anything spectacular but because of their wonderful black and white markings. Every single one of them is different. When you spend enough time really looking at them, you start to appreciate just how many variations there are.

During my trip to the Kruger National Park and Ithala Game Reserve, I came across hundreds of zebra every day. They stand around eating grass, looking totally unperturbed and disinterested in anything going on around them. It is a huge photographic challenge to try to capture something of interest.

Sometimes it is the combination of the landscape surrounding the zebra that gets my attention. Other times it is the movement of a zebra taking off in fright. A baby animal of any kind is always interesting. The tiny fuzzy little one in these pics just makes me want to hug it. I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of photographing these photogenic animals. I hope you enjoy the small selection of photos on this blog.
