Nigel and Aine got married yesterday. And what a wedding it was.
The blend of some New Zealanders, mixed with a touch of Irish and topped with South Africans was the perfect blend for an emotional, warm, fun and absolutely crazy celebration.
With many, many friends and family from all corners of the globe present, Nigel and Aine pledged their love and commitment to each other at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Rivonia, Johannesburg. We had great fun taking photos at the Palazzo Hotel in Fourways and then the festivities got under way at Longmeadows Piano Bar across the road.
Within seconds of the speeches having been completed, Nigel and Aine started the fun by downing some shooters which were swiftly provided by the Kiwi clan. The guests needed no urging to fill the dance floor, let their hair down and share some unique dance moves.
A friendly rugby “theme” flowed through the evening with the ladies starting it off with a serious challenge for the bouquet followed by the men for the garter. The Kiwi’s performed The Haka and put on their scariest faces but the South Africans were having none of it and held on to the World Cup Title by winning the boat race – a drinking game requiring concentration, speed and teamwork.
By the time we left at some time past midnight, the party was in full swing and would continue that way for some time.
